Vaughan Williams Project: Events in Japan 

Crowdfunding Campaign

 

Together with Artes Publishing and journalist Naoki Hayashida, the producer of this campaign, Midori ran a Crowdfunding Campaign to raise funds for the project in Japan.

Concert and Talk at Alios Arts Centre (Iwaki, Fukushima) on 18th October 2022

 

A concert and talk event with pianist Masanori Kato and journalist Naoki Hayashida. 


Vaughan Williams 150th Anniversary Recital & Book Launch at Ginza Oji Hall, Tokyo 

31st October 2022

 

The main event of the project in Japan was this recital at the prestigious Ginza Oji Hall, in which Midori performed an 'All Vaughan Williams' programme with pianist Masanori Kato. The recital also included a talk with Kato and journalist Naoki Hayashdia.

 

This event also launched Midori's new book, a Japanese translation of Simon Heffer’s biography Vaughan Williams (co-translated with Nobuya Takahashi, Artes Publishing)

A Journey through England with Vaughan Williams

 

A talk exploring the roots of Vaughan Williams's music - going back to Vaughan Williams's footsteps and journey around England, through which he collected over 800 folksongs.

Midori appeared as guest on this radio programme on OTTAVA, a classical music channel in collaboration with BBC Proms Japan. Midori discussed Vaughan Williams’s music, the album, as well as the significant features of the BBC Proms.
