Chashitsu: Auditory Tea room

Album Release & Live Concert

On 14 October 2025, violinist and composer Midori Komachi will premiere her latest production, Chashitsu: Auditory Tea Room, at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room. Created in collaboration with MSCTY founder and producer Nick Luscombe, the project draws inspiration from Chashitsu (Japanese Tea Room), and Chado the Japanese Way of Tea—a tradition where every sound, gesture, and moment of stillness forms part of a journey.

Komachi, known for bridging Japanese tradition with contemporary sounds of Japan and the West, collaborates with MSCTY founder and producer Nick Luscombe, whose soundscapes of Japan interweave with her compositions. She will also be joined by 2nd violinist Maho Harada, and their dialogue across the space will mirror the interactions and introspection of Chadō.

Coinciding with the launch of Komachi’s new album of the same name, this performance transforms the Elgar Room into an evolving sonic environment - shaping a theatrical encounter that invites audiences into a deeper Way of Listening.

Nick Luscombe will also DJ an ambient music selection before the performance.

Tickets will be on sale on 4th September 2025
